Organisation structure

An organisation’s structure is the system of tasks, workflows, reporting relationships and communication channels that link together diverse individuals and groups. Organisations typically have both formal (or official) structures — usually documented in an organisational chart — as well as informal structures made up of the unofficial working relationships that invariably develop between staff.

There are three broad types of traditional organisation structures — functional, divisional, and matrix.
