// Macro environment

The general environment

Beyond the specific (or task) environment, the organisation itself — and all of the forces within its specific (or task) environment — operates within a larger environment known as the general environment. The general environment can be considered at the local, state, country or regional geographic level.

It is possible for managers to influence some general environmental factors. However, these factors will always remain beyond a manager’s control. Key environmental factors that managers need to consider when analysing their general environment include economic, sociocultural, political/legal, technological and natural environment conditions.
