Motivation — Extrinsic and intrinsic rewards

Extrinsic rewards are those administered by another person (such as a manager). Some examples of extrinsic rewards are:
- pay
- bonuses
- promotions
- time off
- awards
- verbal praise.
Intrinsic rewards are self-administered. They occur naturally as a person performs a task. Examples of intrinsic rewards include:
- feelings of competency
- worth
- fulfilment
- personal development.
